SG SAFEEVENT AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT

In this week’s #SGSafeEventAmbassador spotlight, we speak to Dashiel Goh, Senior Sales Manager of Grand Hyatt Singapore as he shares the journey in becoming a certified SG SafeEvent Ambassador and how it will help the hotel industry provide a sense of assurance.

1. Tell us a little bit about what you do

I’m the Senior Sales Manager for MICE at Grand Hyatt Singapore and have been with the company for a little over 6 years and looking forward for more to come. Responsible for selling guest rooms, meeting space and other Hyatt services to customer groups, managing accounts, and conducting site inspections, solicits and generates business whilst managing team members target and goals.

2. What inspired you to become a SG SafeEvent Ambassador

Allows me to understand the importance of measures put in place and contribute to ensure safe events are carried out; timely opportunity to be a learner and an advocate of best practices in the (MICE) industry to revitalise and restart business. I believe that we are not to far out from seeing physical events taking place again and being able to provide experiences beyond clients’ imaginations is really fulfilling.

3. What are the key learnings and skills you picked up from the course and how will it benefit you in your work?

The course allows me to see things from a different perspective and puts ourselves in the shoes of event suppliers and venue owners to see how we can work together hand in hand to deliver safe management measures for MICE and events. It also gives us the confidence to not only our client but our colleagues as well that say I’m ready to execute your event safely and assist them in navigating the ever changing guidelines for SMM. Apart from this, the course allows us to Recalibrating business operations and processes, innovate solutions for customers such as live streaming the event to different several ballrooms within the hotel and keeping the audience engage by conducting virtual meditation session in between.

4. Why would you encourage others to be a SG SafeEvent Ambassador?

I believe that this course provides you with the knowledge that is essential in the events scene, regardless of what role you play and will help us in better understanding the little details that every event venue/organizer go through while planning an event in during these tough times and help them prepare, plan and organise MICE events more effectively. Additionally, I believe that the knowledge taken from this course will not only just help us in the MICE scene but in our everyday life as well. Lastly, I believe this will help us understand our everyday heroes (front line workers, SG safety Officer, SG SafeEvent Ambassador) a little better in the things they do and why they do it. I remember in the earlier days where people would subtly move away from people wearing the nurses uniform or not listening to the SG SafeEvent Ambassador advise when approach (even steering clear from them). All in all, this will only help further contribute to the government efforts to reopen the economy. So I would encourage for everybody to take the course as you’ll have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
