2023 has been a tremendous year for the MICE industry in Singapore. As the national trade association and champion for the industry, SACEOS has led the way in supporting the industry’s growth and serving our members through various initiatives.

Here are some of the key initiatives and events that we have rolled out this year:

MICE Sustainability Roadmap

The MICE Sustainability Roadmap, was launched by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and SACEOS to set out clear targets and strategies to raise sustainability standards across Singapore’s MICE industry over the next few years.

The roadmaps are guided by the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. The MICE Sustainability Roadmap aims to position Singapore as one of the most sustainable MICE destinations in Asia Pacific. Download MICE Sustainability Roadmap here.

WA 3 Sustainable MICE – Guidelines for waste management

To enable the Singapore MICE industry to reduce its environmental impact and align with national sustainability targets, SACEOS worked with more than 20 public and private stakeholders in the MICE value chain to develop a set of guidelines for waste management.

SACEOS and the Singapore Standards Council (SSC), which is overseen by Enterprise Singapore, launched the new Workshop Agreement (WA), known as WA 3 Sustainable MICE – Guidelines for waste management, on 7 March 2023. Purchase the WA 3 here.

WA 4 Sustainable MICE – Guidelines for carbon emissions management.

SACEOS and the Singapore Standards Council (SSC), which is overseen by Enterprise Singapore, published the Workshop Agreement (WA) 4 Sustainable MICE – Guidelines for carbon emissions management in August 2023.

The standard complements the WA 3 Sustainable MICE – Guidelines for waste management launched earlier this year and was developed in close collaboration with public and private stakeholders across the MICE value chain. MICE Internship Best Practices Guidelines

To raise the standard of internship and better attract the next generation of talent in the MICE industry, SACEOS and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) have co-developed a guide on the best practices for internship in the MICE industry.

Developed in consultation with both Institutes of Higher Learning and industry players, the guide serves to provide a set of best practices for interns and MICE businesses to reference when designing or embarking on internship programmes. It covers key areas such as objectives of internship, mentorship framework, working hours, leave benefits, allowance, workplace safety and wellbeing as well as early job offer.
