FIRST-EVER SUSTAINABLE MICE-GUIDELINES FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP HELD

First-ever Sustainable MICE-Guidelines For Waste Management Workshop held

SACEOS held its first-ever Sustainable MICE – Waste Management Guidelines Workshop on 12 April 2023. The workshop was attended by almost 40 participants from various sectors of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) ecosystem, including organisers, venues, suppliers, and institutes of higher learning.

The objective of the workshop was to provide a foundational guideline on how to manage waste generated during MICE events. Waste management has become an increasingly critical issue, and the events industry has recognised its responsibility in adopting sustainable practices. SACEOS has recognised this and is taking proactive measures to address it by offering a platform for industry professionals to come together and understand the guideline and kickstart their policy to minimise the environmental impact of MICE events.

The workshop was conducted in collaboration with training partner Bureau Veritas, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification services. The participants had the opportunity to interact with each other and exchange ideas and insights on waste management best practices. The mix of stakeholders from various sectors made the discussions diverse and enriching, leading to key takeaways on how to implement an action plan in their respective organisations.

It was heartening to see the enthusiastic participation of all the attendees, which demonstrates the increasing need and demand for waste management in the MICE industry. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for industry professionals to come together and learn from each other, paving the way for more sustainable practices to be adopted in the future.
