In this week’s #SGSafeEventAmbassador spotlight, we speak to Yuanting Ang, Events Director of Spark Planners Pte Ltd as she shares the journey in becoming a certified SG SafeEvent Ambassador and how it will help the events industry provide a sense of assurance.

1. Tell us a little bit about what you do 

Being in the events industry for about 8 years, I have done many events ranging from conferences, seminars, workshops, dinners, awards to SEA region events. Planning and executing events has become a part and parcel of my life, and I have always been dedicated to deliver the highest standards of service, logistics management and creative solutions to create a memorable and rewarding experience for every unique event. 

2. What inspired you to become a SG SafeEvent Ambassador 

In the beginning, my company was the one that signed us up and of course being employees, we followed up and attended the course. I thought it was quite a good idea to have it all in one so that we can advise our clients better in how to plan events during this Covid period and also understand how to ensure that the event guests feel safe in the environment where the events are conducted.

3. What are the key learnings and skills you picked up from the course and how will it benefit you in your work? 

I learnt how to conduct and enforce checks to ensure the event planning complies with the safe management measures , and I also manage to identify SMM requirements for MICE and events and also recognize the roles and responsibilities of SG SafeEvent Ambassador. Personally, the most important takeaway was also the art of stewarding, and how to handle stressful situations especially dealing with difficult event guests. The course really helped me and my colleagues manage events during this period.

4. Why would you encourage others to be a SG SafeEvent Ambassador? 

I highly recommend partners and businesses to encourage their employees to be a SG SafeEvent Ambassador as the programme aims to equip SG SafeEvent Ambassador with Safe Management Measures knowledge that is vital to performing the duties of a SG SafeEvent Ambassador.
